Wander through the charming Kasbah of the Udayas, marvel at the Hassan Tower, and enjoy lunch with views of the Atlantic coastline.
As you journey north, the scenery shifts to the stunning Rif Mountains, leading you to Chefchaouen, a town like no other. Day 4: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
Bid farewell to the Blue City and set off toward the imperial wonders of Morocco. Your first stop is Volubilis, a well-preserved Roman city with ancient ruins that transport you back over 2,000 years. Walk among towering columns and intricate mosaics, learning about Morocco’s fascinating Roman past.
Next, visit Meknes, an imperial city known for its grand architecture and rich history. Enjoy lunch at a local eatery before continuing to Fes, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual heart.
Day 5: Fes – A Journey Through Time
Prepare for a deep dive into the soul of Morocco as you explore Fes, a city teeming with history, tradition, and
sensory delights. Step into the UNESCO-listed medina,
one of the world’s most well-preserved medieval cities,
where narrow alleyways lead to bustling souks, hidden courtyards, and centuries-old madrasas.
Visit the world-famous Chouara Tannery, where leather is dyed using ancient techniques, and admire the intricate mosaics at the Bou Inania Madrasa. Take time to savor traditional Fassi cuisine, renowned for its delicate balance
of spices and flavors.
By the end of the day, Fes will have left an indelible mark
on your heart, just as Morocco is beginning to feel like home.
A professional guide will lead you through the winding pathways of this medieval city, explaining the significance of the places you will visit.
Imagine seeing shops brimming with slippers in every color, sparkling hammered gold plates, and walls adorned with red and brown carpets…
As you walk a little further, you’re sure to encounter a dazzling mosaic fountain set amid everyday activities. Can you smell the fresh bread? Your guide might explain that every neighborhood has a bakery and fountain.
Your guide will take you to the weavers, where you’ll witness them creating beautiful fabrics right before your eyes. Don’t forget to pick out a scarf to bring to the Sahara Desert! The next stop is the tanneries. From a high vantage point, you’ll overlook numerous vats of dye and learn about the leather-making process.
After a morning of exploration, you’ll be ready to enjoy lunch at one of the best restaurants in the medina. You will gain a deeper appreciation for Moroccan cuisine as you savor a delicious meal of tagine or couscous, followed by some fresh seasonal fruit for dessert.
Conclude your tour in the afternoon, then return to relax at your hotel or riad.

DAY 6: MERZOUGA
Today, you’ll embark on a long drive south to Merzouga. This journey offers a glimpse into
a different side of Morocco—after experiencing its bustling cities, the rural landscape provides
refreshing contrast. Travel through the beautiful Atlas Mountains and forests populated
by playful monkeys. If you have any questions about your experiences so far, feel free to ask
your driver; he’ll be happy to share his insights.
About halfway through the journey, you will stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, where you’ll be
amazed by the fossils for which the town is famous. Be sure to check out the incredible artwork
crafted by local artisans using these fossils!
Imagine arriving at the dusty pink buildings of the “Gate of the Sahara,” feeling the dry heat as
the landscape gradually transforms into desert…

DAY 7: SAHARA DESERT
Use your morning to explore this small but fascinating desert town. In the afternoon, you’ll take a four-wheel drive across the land to the Sahara sand dunes. Initially, the terrain will be flat and dusty, but suddenly, towering dunes will rise before you, filling the horizon.
The ripples in the sand may remind you of water, even though there is none in sight. In the morning, the sand is cool enough to walk on barefoot, with grains slipping between your toes.
Imagine swaying on a camel as you venture out to the Berber tents, watching your shadows dance along the curves of the dunes…
You may choose to spend the night in the tents, sipping mint tea and enjoying lively music before falling asleep under a canopy of stars…
DAY 8: TODRA GORGES
Awaken in the cool desert and take a camel trek back to your hotel. Afterward, you’ll hop back into the 4x4 and head toward Erfoud. Your driver will then take you behind the High Atlas Mountains, passing clusters of palm trees and Berber villages on your way to the Todra Gorges.
You will feel small as towering walls of grey and amber rock rise on either side of you…
Walk through the gorge and enjoy the feeling of being enveloped by such magnificence. Observe how locals go about their lives as you encounter shepherds or make your way toward a small town during your walk.
You will stay overnight in Boumalne near the Gorges or Ouarzazate before crossing the High Atlas Mountains.

DAY 9: MARRAKECH
Today, you'll drive to Marrakech, a city that deserves a spot on every traveler's bucket list. Take a moment to pause your journey and visit Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a massive red clay fortification. This collection of buildings is a UNESCO World Heritage site, celebrated for its stunning example of southern Moroccan architecture. You might feel like you’ve stepped into a movie—an impression that is valid, as Ouarzazate is known as the “film capital of Morocco” and has served as a backdrop for many films.
As you re-enter Moroccan city life, you’ll be surrounded by the vibrant atmosphere of Marrakech. Make your way to the famous Djemaa el-Fna, one of the city’s central attractions. The square comes alive at night with local storytellers, entertainers, and tantalizing barbecue pits, making it well worth a visit.
Imagine hearing the clanking brass of the water-seller adorned with colorful tassels while inhaling the fragrant spices wafting through the stalls…
If you seek a respite from the bustling energy, a quiet cup of tea on the terrace of a nearby café offers a spectacular view of the lively square below.
DAY 10: MARRAKECH
A professional guide will lead you through the must-see attractions of Marrakech today, ensuring you get the most out of your visit to this world renowned city.
See for yourself why people are calling it one of the top places to travel in the world…
You’ll be able to browse through the maze of souks in the medina. Try your hand at bargaining for that souvenir you wanted to bring home! You can find any treasure here—from authentic leather to hand-painted pottery to heavy silver jewelry.
Imagine exploring a palace of viziers and the forgotten burial places of a royal dynasty…
Among other interesting stops, you’ll get a tour of the Bahia Palace and Saadian tombs. The Bahia palace, an incredible work of architecture, has been restored from the damage done by servants upon the vizier’s death. The Saadian tombs, once overlooked for years, are now a popular site for visitors to view the ornate tombs of members of the Saadian dynasty.
After a long tour, you’ll be happy to unwind in your calm hotel or riad.

After breakfast, you will set off to the coastal city of Essaouira, a picturesque fishing town, lying on the southwest coast of Morocco. With an exquisite beach to the south, Essaouira has become one of Morocco’s most popular coastal towns. Many of the country’s wood carvers and artists make Essaouira their home, filling Essaouira with incredible art and culture.
Essaouira is also considered a Jewish city with home of many Moroccan jews and also known for its wind that is why Surfers come from all over the world to enjoy surfing in its huge waves.
There is a bit of a European feel to Essaouira, since it was designed by a Frenchman and has numerous other cultural influences.
You’ll see cheerful blue fishing boats packed together by the port…
Imagine hearing gulls screaming over the thriving fish markets…the waves are crashing on the beach and the old wall that surrounds the city.

DAY 12 ESSAOUIRA
Here’s a day to wander through Essaouira’s open medina, looking at the art and interesting souvenirs. The cobblestone paths are more open than the medina of Fes, making it a clear and relaxing atmosphere.
Whitewashed walls add to the fresh feeling; you’ll be happy that you are finishing up your adventure in Morocco with a slower pace.
You’ll get to walk up on the old fortified wall and see the old cannons as you look out over the oceans. Feel the strong wind on your face—Essaouira is well known for its coastal wind—perhaps inspiring you to give windsurfing a chance?
The small cafes are definitely worth a visit. Drink some strong Moroccan coffee or ask for a fresh pastry as you sit and enjoy your surroundings. After your snack, you’ll want to walk along the beach, feeling the soft sand.
If you want an authentic lunch experience, try a local fish restaurant where you’ll get piles of seafood and delicious Moroccan bread to savor out in the open air.

DAY 13 ESSAOUIRA/ CASABLANCA
It’s hard to believe you will have experienced all of that in only 13 days. You’ll return to Casablanca, where you started this adventure in the beginning. Take this day to soak in the Moroccan atmosphere. Photograph even ordinary sights so that you can try to explain the charm of Morocco to your friends and family when you return.
